Buddhist Circuit Tour

On arrival at Mumbai airport, you will meet our representative who will escort you to the hotel. Check-in at the hotel and rest of the day to relax. In the evening you may explore nearby places on your own. Overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast ride up to Elephanta Caves on a motor launch from the Gateway of India. These rock-cut caves have been declared a world heritage and are located on an island in the Arabian Sea. Later in the afternoon, go for an orientation tour of Mumbai. Visit Gateway of India, and drive past the Royal Mumbai Yacht Club, the Police Headquarters, the NGMA, and the city museum. En route, we will stumble upon the Kala Ghoda area, which is the art area of Mumbai. Here amidst stories of Sassoon and Jewish history. The tour will end with a visit to Mani Bhawan - the focal point of Mahatma Gandhi's political activities. Overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, drive to Kanheri Caves which span from the 1st century BC to the 11th century AD, an era that saw the rise and decline of Buddhism. After the visit, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Today we will explore the Karla and Bhaja caves located on the outskirts of Mumbai. Bhaja Caves are a group of 22 rock-cut caves dating back to the 2nd century BC. These caves are considered a beautiful example of the old Buddhist caves. The Karla Caves are a complex of ancient Indian Buddhist rock-cut cave shrines. The shrines were developed over the period – from the 2nd century BC to the 5th century AD. Return to Mumbai for an overnight stay.

Early morning you will be provided a transfer to the Mumbai airport to board a flight for Aurangabad. On arrival proceed to visit Ajanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which are about 29 rock-cut Buddhist caves that date from the 2nd century BCE to about 480 or 650 CE. After the visit, check-in at the hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Ellora caves. The caves are one of the largest rock-cut monasteries-temple complexes in the world. It features Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain monuments and artwork, dating from the 600-1000 CE period. After the visit, you will be provided a transfer to Aurangabad airport to connect a flight to Hyderabad. Pick up upon arrival at Hyderabad airport followed by drop at the hotel for an overnight stay.

After a leisurely breakfast, spend the day sightseeing at the Buddhist sites or in Nagarjunkonda - visiting Buddhist temple remains and museums, and getting relevant information about the city and the religion. Overnight stay in Hyderabad hotel.

Today after breakfast, you will drive to Vijayawada. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Later, visit the famous Durga temple situated on the banks of the river Krishna. Overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, we will set out for an excursion to Amravati and visit the ruins of Buddhist Stupas and Temples. Later return to Vijayawada to board a train for Visakhapatnam. Pick up upon arrival at Visakhapatnam railway station followed by check-in at the hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast drive to Bojannakonda and Lingalakonda caves to explore some rock-cut Buddhist caves from the 4th and 9th century A.D. After the visit return to Visakhapatnam for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, go for an excursion to Bavikonda and explore Buddhist Monastery built around the 3rd century BCE. Later, drive to Pavurallakonda and explore the ruined hill-top Buddhist monastic complex. After the visit, drive back to Visakhapatnam for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will be provided a departure transfer to Visakhapatnam airport to connect an international flight for onwards journey.
